Biographical Note
The son of Oliver Winfield Killam, Radcliffe Killam (1910-2007) graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1932 and the Harvard University Law School in 1935. Following graduation, he returned to Laredo, Texas, to join the family business, the Killam Oil Company, assuming control upon his father’s death in 1959. During his tenure, the company expanded in the South Texas region into other operations, such as ranching and real estate development. Killam also donated land to establish the Texas A & M International University in Laredo and won the Mr. South Texas and All American Wildcatter awards in 1978. Two years later, David Killam took over the company.
