Biographical Note

Longview, Texas resident A. V. Grant was a friend and political organizer for Huey Long during the 1930s. He campaigned for the Share Our Wealth program, which aimed to more equitably redistribute wealth, and dispersed political materials in East Texas.

Comprised of correspondence, speeches, and newspapers, the A. V. Grant Papers, 1933-1935, chronicle the political fortunes of Louisiana politician Huey Long. Correspondence documents Grant’s efforts to build support for Long and his Share Our Wealth program in East Texas as well as his relationship with Long. Newspaper articles provide contemporary accounts of Long’s career.
