Biographical Note

Raised in Woodsville, New Hampshire, Melvin R. Cutting (1917-1998) fought in the 774th Coast Artillery during World War II, serving in the Pacific theater. Halfway through 1943, after training in artillery and jungle warfare, he was sent to islands in the Pacific where he fought the Japanese. After the war, Cutting eventually moved to Lisbon, New Hampshire.
