A Guide to the William Price Connally Jr. Papers, 1925-1970
Biographical NoteBorn in McGregor, Texas William Price Connally (1907-1970) graduated from West Point in 1929, ranked seventy-fifth out of 299 graduated. He then served in the Army before being sent to Georgetown University to study law. Connally returned to the military as a Judge Advocate General in 1939, rising to the rank of Colonel. He helped update the Manual for Courts-Martial U.S. Army in 1949. Connally married twice, first to Helen Johnston in 1931, with whom he fathered two children, and then to Louise Bailey in 1953. He retired from the military in 1959, passing away in 1970.
