versus Van Millican Report, 1910, contains the stenographer’s report from

Biographical Note
On the night of March 24, 1910, near Millican, Texas, Euro-American farmer Sidney H.
Barker was killed. Arrested later that day, Van Millican, an African-American
farmer, was tried for the murder in December 1910.
Scope and Contents
The Texas versus Van Millican Report, 1910, contains the
stenographer’s report from the trial of African-American Van Millican for the murder
of Euro-American Sidney H. Barker. Presided over by Judge Edward R. Sinks at the
21st District Court of Burleson County, Texas, in December 1910, the report includes
testimony of witnesses, including members of the Barker and Sims families and local
police officials, as well as a certification from the stenographer, Theo G.
Eisenlohr.
