Biographical Note

Thomas Frederick Taylor was a civil servant and real estate dealer in Austin, Texas. He married journalist Bride Neill (1858-1937) in 1880, and the couple moved to Washington, D.C., returning to Austin in 1883.

Scope and Contents

Composed of correspondence and legal papers, the Thomas F. Taylor Papers, 1834-1931, document the real estate business of Taylor in Texas. Legal papers include J. Stanley Ford’s papers for the estates of Benjamin R. Milam and James S. Hogg as well as land transfers for Thomas F. Taylor. Correspondence to Taylor discusses the sale of land, while an 1877 advertisement announces an auction for land in "Louis Horst’s Sub-Division" in Austin.
