			<p>The town of Haverhill, Massachusetts, located north of Boston, was founded in 1640.
				In the 18th century, a board of elected selectmen executively governed the town,
				including financial affairs. </p>

			<head>Scope and Contents</head>
			<p>The B. W. Swett Papers, 1780-1781, 1816, donated by Bert W. Swett of Grand Prairie,
				Texas, consist of a four financial documents (1780-1781), from the selectmen of
				Haverhill, Masssachusetts. These documents include two procurements of clothes and
				shoes to the Continental Army and a printed statement of the Commonwealth of
				Massachusetts Tax Law for 1816.</p>
