Abstract: The Lee Thompson Stull Reminiscences, 1994-1997, consist of the 1994 memoir of Stull, entitled “Normandy and a Tale of Two Letters,” regarding his experiences as a glider pilot for the U.S. 101st Airborne Division, including his landing at Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944, and subsequent stint at a German prisoner of war hospital. The typescript also contains a letter to his widow Betsy concerning his memoir in 1997.

Biographical Note

Born in Pennsylvania, Lee Thompson Stull (1923-1997) served as a glider pilot for the United States 101st Airborne Division during the Second World War. After landing at Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944, Stull was taken into custody at a German prisoner of war hospital, released only when allied forces reached the infirmary. In 1948, he graduated from Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs and married Elizabeth "Betsy" Brooks, with whom he had three children. Stull worked for the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service and earned a master’s from Penn State.
