Biographical Note
Born in Pennsylvania, Lee Thompson Stull (1923-1997) served as a glider pilot for the United States 101st Airborne Division during the Second World War. After landing at Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944, Stull was taken into custody at a German prisoner of war hospital, released only when allied forces reached the infirmary. In 1948, he graduated from Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs and married Elizabeth "Betsy" Brooks, with whom he had three children. Stull worked for the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service and earned a master’s from Penn State.
