			<head>Scope and Contents</head>
			<p>Composed of almanacs, books, family bibles, a postcard, and photographs, the John Shiller Papers, 1807-1951, chronicle the experiences of Shiller as a member of the Czech community and the Czech Evangelical and Reformed Church in the United States. Almanacs are primarily written in Czech, while family bibles and books on topics such as Texas history, U.S. history, sermons, psalms, and the lives of such clergymen as Reverend John Wesley are written in both English and Czech. In addition, the collection contains a glass negative of William Barret Travis’s 1835 commission pertaining as lieutenant colonel, a postcard of Mt. Vernon, and a photograph of an unidentified home.</p>
