Biographical Note

George Lee Robertson (c. 1842-?) was a wealthy student from Austin who fought in the 4th Texas Volunteer Infantry (CSA) during the Civil War. He was stationed in Arkansas, Virginia and Texas and taken prisoner by Union forces.

Scope and Contents

The George Lee Robertson Papers, 1839-1869, comprising Photostat correspondence to and from Robertson and chronicle his experiences during the Civil War. The letters discuss forced marches, military orders, battles, camp life, and life as a prisoner of war. Also included are accounts of clothing and payments received from the Confederate Army.
