A Guide to the Antonio María Martínez Letters, 1817-1819
Biographical NoteAntonio María Martínez (d. 1823) was born in Andujar, Spain, and served in the Spanish Army before becoming the last governor of Spanish Texas in 1817. He surrendered to Agustin De Iturbide, emperor of the newly independent state of Mexico, in 1822. Martínez died a year later in Mexico City.
