Consisting of correspondence, reports, bulletins, a map, newspaper clippings, and photographs, the John J. Ledbetter Papers, 1950-1958, document Ledbetter’s involvement in the Arkansas-White-Red Basins Interagency Committee (AWRBIAC) and the Red River Compact Commission during the 1950s. Reports from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the AWRBIAC discuss the history, archaeology, geography, and hydrographic survey data of the Arkansas-White-Red river basins. Correspondence, bulletins, photographs, and newspaper clippings concern agricultural appropriations, flood control, pollution, and the conservation of natural resources. A map outlines land in Texas suitable for irrigation development.
