Consisting of thirty audio tapes with accompanying transcripts, the Jane Hannemann Today’s Pioneer Women Oral Histories, 1984-1985, document the lives of thirty-three women from Saskatchewan, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas, ranging in age from 70 years to the mid-90s, in preparation for Hannemann’s performance about pioneer women. The collection describes these women’s experiences as homemakers, ranchers, and teachers on the High Plains in the early to mid-1900s.
