			<head>Biographical Note</head>
			<p>Born in Washington County, Arkansas, Ebenezer Hanna (1844-1862) was the son of Jesse P. Hanna. During the Civil War, 16-year old Hanna enlisted in Captain George James Hampton’s Company C of the 4th Texas Mounted Volunteers in the Confederate Army. He was killed at the Battle of Glorieta Pass on March 28, 1862. Hanna’s diary recording his experiences in the regiment was published by Martin H. Hall in <emph render="italic">Password: The Quarterly Journal of the El Paso County Historical Society</emph> in 1958.</p>

			<p>Consisting of a Photostat and typescript, the Ebenezer Hanna Diary, 1862, chronicles Hanna’s experiences in Company C of the 4th Texas Mounted Volunteers. Spanning from February 10 through March 27, 1862, the diary describes Hanna’s march with his company from Fort Thorn to Fort Craig, New Mexico, the terrain, conditions within the regiment, and two engagements with Union troops.</p>
