			<head>Biographical Note</head>
			<p>John Judson Hamilton (b. 1854) was a librarian, journalist, editor, and publisher. In
				the 1870s, he attended the University of Iowa, where he earned a master’s degree,
				and served as the University’s assistant librarian. Hamilton owned, published, and
				edited the Des Moines, Iowa, <title render="italic">Daily News</title> and edited
				several other newspapers and magazines. In 1911, he moved to California, serving on
				numerous civic organizations in Los Angeles and Pasadena. Hamilton also authored
					<title render="italic">The Dethronement of the City Boss</title> (1910).</p>
