Mrs. Marcelle Lively Hamer (1900-1974) earned a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1939. She served as head of the University of Texas Library’s Texas Collection and in several positions for the Texas Folklore Society.

Composed of literary production, newspaper clippings, and sketches, the Marcelle Lively Hamer Papers, 1927-1937, document Hamer’s research and writings on the Texas Governor’s Mansion. The collection consists of a description and history of the Governor’s Mansion, its state of repair, and sketches of its furniture.
