Biographical Note

In 1818, the Gregg family moved from Illinois to Texas. John W. Gregg (1780-1849) and Katherine Grotts (1786-1837) moved to the site of Sulphur Fork Prairie with their five children, Matilda (b. 1820), Josiah (b. 1823), Sabiah (1823), Samuel (b. 1810), and Louisa. Shortly after their move, their sixth child, Milton was born.
