The Thomas Tolson Gordon
Reminiscences, 1844-1933, consist of two copies of a dictation by Gordon about his
early life as a Confederate soldier and traveler in Brazil from 1866 to
1868.
Biographical Sketch
Born in Alabama, Thomas Tolson Gordon (1844-1923) was educated in Pennsylvania. He
served in the Confederate 6th Alabama Infantry and the 53rd Alabama Cavalry during
the Civil War. From 1866 to 1868, Gordon traveled throughout Brazil, describing the
people and social conditions. Gordon married Mary Bouhanan in 1901 and died in 1923.

The Thomas Tolson Gordon Reminiscences, 1844-1933, consist of two copies of a
dictation by Gordon about his early life as a Confederate soldier and traveler in
Brazil from 1866 to 1868.
