Biographical Note

J. B. Colson studied under the direction of Clarence White for his BFA in photography. After serving as a Signal Corps photographer in Panama he studied documentary film at UCLA. In 1968 he became a professor at the University of Texas at Austin and inaugurated a program at the Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. levels in photojournalism. He is now Professor Emeritus, School of Journalism at The University of Texas, and a fellow at the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History.

Scope and Contents

Collection consists of some of Colson’s lecture slides and assignments by Colson’s University of Texas photojournalism students on UT buildings, both interior and exterior and some of the activities that relate to these buildings, and miscellaneous subjects, most related to entertainment and recreation. Written commentary is included along with the images for these assignments.
