The John Felloseby Letter, 1836,
consists of a photocopy of a letter written by Felloseby to his daughter Mary Anna
[Moseley?] during his trip to Texas on March 26 and 27, 1836.
Biographical Note
John Felloseby was the father of Mary Anna [Moseley?] and other children. A supporter
of Texas independence, he traveled to Texas in 1836 upon the steamship Caspian
through Alexandria and Natchitoches, Louisiana, to buy land for himself and others.
Scope and Contents
The John Felloseby Letter, 1836, consists of a photocopy of a letter written by
Felloseby to his daughter Mary Anna [Moseley?] during his trip to Texas on the
steamship Caspian through Alexandria and at
Natchitoches, Louisiana, on March 26 and 27, 1836. Felloseby discusses his sadness
upon hearing of the fall of the Alamo, his interest in the Texas Declaration of
Independence, and the prospect of buying land in Texas for himself and on behalf of
others.
