			<head>Biographical Note</head>
			<p>The son of Christopher P. Dailey, Henry W. Dailey was born in Kenedy, Texas, in 1879. He served as town mayor at the time it was incorporated in 1910. Dailey wrote numerous articles about the history of Karnes County and other historical subjects, primarily during the 1930s and 1940s. Along with writing history, Dailey avidly collected materials relating to Karnes County's past, including newspapers, Confederate army muster rolls, photographs, and maps.</p>

			<p>The Dailey Papers, 1845-1942, principally consist of materials written by or collected by Henry W. Dailey related to the history of Kenedy and Karnes County, Texas. The collection includes the correspondence of Caleb J. Church and others; a scrapbook covering the manhunt and trial of Gregorio Cortez (1901) and genealogy of Karnes County residents; land records and deeds; reminiscences of pioneer and frontier life from various people; Karnes County newspapers (circa 1890s); Confederate army muster rolls; Karnes County maps (1927-1935), and historical writings by other authors.</p>
			<p>Dailey’s finished manuscripts and notes largely cover the history of Karnes and Kenedy Counties. Titles include “Karnes County and Its Pioneers,” “The Bloody Trail of Cortez,” “Religious Development in Karnes County,” and “A Historical Review of the Post Office at Kenedy, Texas.”</p>
