Scope and Contents

Correspondence, administrative and financial papers, press releases, and promotional materials comprise the New Texas Foundation Records, 1983-1996. The collection documents the Governor’s Commission for Women (1993-1995), the Texas Federation of Women (1993), the Bluebonnet Club plan (1993), the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame (1993-1994), the Governor’s Commission on Physical Fitness (1993-1994), and the State Agency Council’s program on Outstanding Women in Public Service (1991-1993). The administrative records consist of reports related to education policy and women’s organizations and programs, as well as files on nominees, arrangements for visiting dignitaries, selection panels, meeting agendas, guest lists, and exhibition planning for the Hall of Fame. Financial documents concern fundraising events, such as for the Commission on Physical Fitness (1994), the New Texas Foundation’s sponsorship of programs, such as Take Our Daughters to Work (1993, 1994), and bills from vendors. In addition, the collection contains correspondence between personnel in the New Texas Foundation and the office of Governor Richards.
