Biographical NoteAlice Virginia Blackburn (1855-1932), the daughter of Mary Ann Ast and William Blackburn, married businessman Reeves Catt ca. 1870 in Staunton, Virginia. The couple produced one child, Mary. Mrs. Catt was a devoted Methodist and sailed to England and France on the 1917 voyage of La Touraine. Source: Michael Koiner Memorial Association. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsTwo notebooks compose the Mrs. Reeves Catt Diaries, 1887-1918, which document Catt’s activities and interests as a woman at the turn of the 20th century. The notebooks primarily concern Catt’s 1917 trip to England and France on the ship La Touraine and Methodism in Texas and abroad, but also contain personal and religious notes, recipes, rosters, and proverbs, as well as loose poems, clippings and a bank note from the Corporation of Winchester, Virginia (1867).
