			<p>Nepomuceno Castrillon was a resident of Texas in March 1836, when the republic declared independence from Mexico.  As a result of this citizenship, Castrillon obtained a land grant in Nacogdoches County the following year.  Pierre Robleau served as his lawyer in the transaction.</p>

			<p>The Nepomuceno Castrillon Papers, 1837, document Castrillon’s May 1837 acquisition of a land grant in Nacogdoches County, Texas, to which he was entitled as a citizen of the Republic of Texas at the time of revolution.  The collection consists of photostats of legal documents required for the land grant, including the contract of sale, an affidavit by Castrillon stating that he did not aid Mexico, an affidavit assigning Castrillon’s power of attorney to Pierre Robleau, and an affidavit assigning Robleau’s power of attorney to Arnold Thonvenin. </p>
