A Guide to the Eugene M. Caskey Papers, 1937-1952
Biographical NoteEugene M. Caskey worked as a pharmacist at Ernest Whitaker’s Drug Store in Jacksonville, Texas. In the 1940s, he served the Texas Pharmaceutical Association as a member of the executive committee, vice president, and president. Caskey also served as secretary for the Jacksonville Rotary Club and the East Texas Druggists’ Association. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsThe Eugene M. Caskey Papers, 1937-1952, document Caskey’s involvement with pharmaceutical associations and consist of correspondence, literary productions, legislation, financial reports, prescriptions, resolutions, information releases, a scrapbook, printed material, and issues of the Texas Druggist. Primarily, the collection concerns Caskey’s involvement with the Texas Pharmaceutical Association (TPA), East Texas Druggists’ Association, and other pharmaceutical associations and conventions. The correspondence includes missives between Caskey and his colleagues in the TPA and other associations, including Walter Cousins, Jr., J.E. Seibert, J.W. Collier, and Walter Dickson Adams. Primarily, the materials pertain to the administration of the Texas Pharmaceutical Association; his promotion of pharmaceutical legislation and educational development at the University of Texas; and the publication of news and studies regarding advances in pharmaceutical technology and development of new medicine.
