A Guide to the UT Campus and Events Lantern Slide Collection, ca. 1920s
These lantern slides were transferred to the Photograph Collection from filing cabinets in SRH 2.324. They may have been created at a later date than the images in them. Dr. Bill Doty helped found the university’s College of Fine Arts and held a triple title: Dean of the College of Fine Arts, Chairman of the Music Department, and Professor of Music.
Collection consists of lantern slides of University of Texas at Austin campus buildings and scenes. Included are images of the construction of Hogg Auditorium, Old Main, Geology Building, Gregory Gym, a view of the capitol from Old Main, Benedict Hall, student groups on campus, and other buildings under construction. A second group of lantern slides was used by music professor Dr. Doty during sing-alongs held on the Mall.
The collection is open for research. An appointment is required to view slides. Contact repository for appointment.
