A Guide to the Texas Bar Foundation Oral History Collection, 1998-2009

Historical Note

The Texas Bar Foundation (TBF) formed in 1965 in order to enhance the rule of law and the system of justice in Texas. The largest charitably-funded bar foundation in the country, the TBF has distributed more than $10 million in grants and accepts contributions from more than 7,500 Texas attorneys. The Foundation distributes awards to honor professional achievements. The Outstanding 50-Year Lawyer Award recognizes attorneys, who have practiced law for fifty or more years while adhering to the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession. Oral histories about the recipients perpetuate the memory of their service and provide material for future scholars.

Scope and Contents

The Texas Bar Foundation Oral History Collection, 1998-2009, consists of transcripts of the oral histories about the recipients of the Outstanding 50-Year Lawyer Award. The interviews discuss the honorees for 1998, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2007-2009, including Barefoot Sanders, Charles W. Barrow, Warlick Carr, Mary Lou Robinson, Albert Armendariz, Sr., and numerous others.
