			<head>Biographical Sketch</head>
			<p>The Tarkington family founded the Tarkington Cotton Company in Cuero, Texas, in the
				mid 20th century. Shelley Grant Tarkington (1868-1939) married Lelia Lay (1869-1941)
				in 1890 and they had seven children, six of whom survived to adulthood. Their
				children were Jane Lay (1891-1945), Georgia Ellen (1893-1985), Shelly Grant
				(1895-1962), Friench Simpson (1898-1954), Powis Franklin (1900-1977), Lelia
				(1905-1978), and Leland Henry (1905-1906). </p>

				Additionally, they contain photographs of Shelley Grant Tarkington, Sr., Shelly
				Grant Tarkington, Jr., Powis F. Tarkington, and the H. K. Williams School. </p>
