Biographical Sketch

G. A. C. Halff was the son of Solomon Halff, early Texas merchant, and Fannie Levi.
Solomon Halff was the president and majority stockholder of the A. B. Frank Company,
which specialized in wholesale dry goods. G. A. C. Halff followed in his father’s
merchandising footsteps, eventually taking over the presidency of the company. The
founder of one of the first automobile dealerships in Texas, Halff also developed
the first wholesale auto supply store in 1911. Additionally, Halff founded the San
Antonio radio station WOAI, which went on the air in 1922. He served in an executive
capacity at Southland Industries, Inc. The G. A. C. Halff Foundation of San Antonio
was named for him.
