Biographical Note

Andrew Gullett (d. 1893) was a physician and Assistant Surgeon in Colonel Colton Greene's 3rd Missouri Cavalry in the Confederate States Army. Formed in 1862, the cavalry unit ultimately disbanded in Shreveport, Louisiana, in the spring of 1865. After the Civil War, Gullett settled in McKinney, Texas, where he served as a well-known physician and member of the county Democratic committee.

The Andrew Gullett Papers, 1850-1936, include correspondence, a funeral notice, Confederate money, receipts, an oath of loyalty and allegiance, military orders, a military parole, a photograph, and a literary production. The papers relate to Gullett’s career in the Confederate States Army and also include biographical sketches of Gullett and Lizzie Gullett Tallant.
