H. O. Rawson was a noted Western artist who made pen and ink drawings from either photographs or real life. From 1900 through the 1930s he went about making drawings of as many important personalities of the American West as he could. He self published these drawings as cards and distributed them for sale.

Scope and Contents

This collection contains reproductions of drawings of outlaws, lawmen and other legendary western figures such as Grizzly Adams, Bob Dalton of the Dalton Boys, Pat Garrett, Billy the Kid, William Clarke Quantrell, and Texas Ranger Captain Bill McDonald. Also included are lesser-known figures Al Jennings (train robber), Henry Starr (bank robber), Doc Carver (“Evil Spirit of the Plains”), and Texas Jack.
