			<head>Biographical Note</head>
			<p>Robert Peter (Bob) Pierce received his Ph.D. in Folklore from the University of
				Nebraska, where he wrote his dissertation on the Big Thicket in Texas. He worked for
				the Windham School System of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, for which he
				helped develop an arts-in-education program for the GED, vocational, and college
				programs. He taught in Huntsville and was also a member the Huntsville Arts
				Council.</p>

			<p>Research files created and collected by Robert P. Pierce for his dissertation on the
				Big Thicket contain correspondence, clippings, printed material, maps, photographs,
				manuscripts, oral history interviews (transcribed and on tape), and sound
				recordings. Oral histories of Bill Brett and Archer Randolph Fillingim are also
				included, as is music and folklore of East Texas and materials on Texas
				folklorists.</p>
