			<head>Historical Sketch</head>
			<p>Tyler County is in southeastern Texas near the Louisiana border. Woodville is the
				county seat and largest town. . The Neches River forms the boundary of Tyler County
				on the north and east. The county was settled by people from the southern United
				States, and was mostly populated early on by farmers, remaining agricultural and
				rural through 1900. The lumber and dairy industries gained more momentum in Tyler
				County in the late 1940s and 1950s. </p>

			<head>Scope and Contents</head>
			<p>The bulk of the material consists of obituaries, arranged alphabetically by the
				surname of the deceased, which were clipped from various Tyler County newspapers.
				Some clippings are pasted on pages with others and are therefore out of order. Also
				included in the scrapbook are newspaper clippings about other events in Tyler
				County, arranged chronologically, and short reports written about Tyler County
				cities and notable sites, arranged alphabetically by place. Most of the material is
				dated in the range 1930-1937, with one clipping from 1908 and two clippings from the
				1940s. </p>
