			<p>Fleming W. Thompson, born around 1842, served in the 11th Alabama Regiment during the
				Civil War and participated in several military engagements, including the Battle of
				Gettysburg. </p>

			<p>The Fleming W. Thompson letters (1861-1865) consist of letters, which concern the
				career of Thompson as a Civil War soldier. The letters describe several military
				engagements, including the Battle of Gettysburg, as Thompson observed them.
				Furthermore, the letters relate to the hardships of camp life. </p>
