A Guide to the Texas Film Collection, 1940-1984
Scope and ContentsThe Texas Film Collection, 1940-1984, is comprised of lobby cards, posters, distributor's pressbooks and presskits, screenplays, and photographic stills, pertaining to Texas-related films. The distributor's pressbooks in the collection are especially valuable because they contain detailed and accurate synopses of the films as well as lengthy articles about the films, reproductions of entire ad campaigns, and all of the posters. Additionally, the collection contains a substantial photographic archive of stills of many of these films. A number of foreign posters are included in the collection, documenting the way that Texas films were perceived overseas. Some of the notable films documented in the collection include Bonnie and Clyde, Urban Cowboy, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, The Alamo, and Dallas (television program).
