Biographical Note

Former Congressman Kenneth Bentsen represented the 25th District of Texas in the
United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 2003, serving on the Budget and
Financial Services Committees. During his time in office, he helped craft
legislation to modernize American banking and securities laws and helped prepare the
nation’s response to the Asian financial crisis. He was also actively involved in
the drafting and passage of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 and the Sarbanes-Oxley
Act of 2002, which improved federal oversight of U.S. capital markets. Following his
time in office, Mr. Bentsen served as a Managing Director of Public Strategies,
Inc., a public affairs consulting firm. He then became President of the Equipment
Leasing and Finance Association, a national trade association representing financial
services companies and manufacturers. Born in Houston in 1959, Mr. Bentsen is the
nephew of former Texas Senator and Treasury Secretary Lloyd Millard Bentsen, Jr.
