			<head>Scope and Contents</head>
			<p>The John B. and Robert Cator papers, 1845-1881, concern the Cator brothers’ careers
				as buffalo hunters and cattlemen. The collection includes correspondence, John
				Cator’s diary (1845-1846), financial papers, and advertisements relating to naval
				service in the Eastern Mediterranean, immigration to North America, buffalo hunting,
				and the cattle industry. With the exception of one letter the material consists of
				photostats. In addition, the papers include a receipt of Robert Cator's, dated
				October 18, 1878, Dodge City, Kansas.</p>
