A Guide to the Henry S. Bunting Papers, 1861-1948
Biographical NoteHenry Stanhope Bunting, 1865-1948, was an author and historian. He wrote several books on the subject of advertising and merchandising, as well as several histories about the Presbyterian Church in Texas and a biography about his father, Robert F. Bunting, a Presbyterian minister who served as the chaplain and regimental historian for Terry’s Texas Rangers, the Eighth Texas Cavalry. After the war, Bunting established churches in several cities, most notably, the First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsThe Henry S. Bunting Papers, 1865-1948, concern to the career of his father, Robert Franklin Bunting (1828-1891) and the history of the Presbyterian Church in Texas. Included in this collection are typescript copies of several histories and a biography written by Henry S. Bunting, extensive notes authored by Robert F. Bunting during the Civil War, muster rolls of Terry’s Texas Rangers, and typescripts of 1891 newspaper clippings relating to the death of Robert F. Bunting.
