Biographical Note
Christian Wilhelm Hander was a Danish immigrant who came to Texas in the 1850’s. Hander was also a participant in the American Civil War.
Scope and Contents
The papers relate to Hander’s experiences at the Siege of Vicksburg in the American Civil War, his personal diaries, his personal expense ledger, the Hander family history, a bibliography concerning Texas in the German-American Collection in the New York Public Library.
