The Legacy of H. S. Wall Project,
established by the Educational Advancement Foundation, helps support research
relating to the mathematician Hubert Stanley Wall (1902-1971). Wall was a proponent
of the "Moore Method," the discovery-based method of teaching developed by his
colleague at UT, R. L. Moore. The collection consists of student notes and teaching
materials, dissertations, research notes, manuscripts, correspondence, and reminiscences.
Biographical Note
The Legacy of H. S. Wall Project, established by the Educational Advancement
Foundation, helps support research relating to the mathematician Hubert Stanley Wall
(1902-1971). Wall received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in
1927. He taught pure mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin (UT)
(1946-1971), where he directed the doctoral work of 66 students. Wall was a
proponent of the "Moore Method," the discovery-based method of teaching developed by
his colleague at UT, R. L. Moore.
