Biographical NoteLeonard G. Coop was a Field Director for the American Red Cross from 1919 to 1926. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsThis album documents Coop’s career in the Red Cross and the places in Texas where he was stationed, among them Fort Bliss, Camp Bowie, Fort McIntosh and William Beaumont General hospital in El Paso. Also very vividly portrayed are some of the disasters to which the Red Cross responded, including the Corpus Christi hurricane of 1919, the Hatch, New Mexico flood of 1922 and the Florida hurricane of 1926. The Mexican Revolution and conflicts along the border with Texas are also portrayed, mainly in photo postcards by W. H. Horne.
