A Guide to the Barkley Family Photograph Album
Biographical NoteThis album belonged to Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Sessions Barkley of Rockdale, Texas. Dr. Barkley practiced medicine in Rockdale for 53 years. The album was donated to the Texas Memorial Museum in 1972 and transferred to the Briscoe Center in 1989. Scope and ContentsThe album contains 41 group and individual portraits in carte-de-visite, cabinet photograph and tintype formats. Only one, Fannie Graves Davis, is identified. Also included are a newspaper clipping of “J. L. Chinault, Commander Camp No. 752, Oxford, Miss.”, and a ribbon from the State Epworth League Conference in Houston, April 16-18, 1895.
