A Guide to the Merle C. Israelsky Papers,
1868-1947
Merle C. Israelsky was an assistant
curator, geologist, and paleontologist, born in 1900.
The papers cover the span of Israelsky’s career as a researcher and
teacher in the field of geology. They include correspondence, teaching and
class notes, broadside, clippings, maps, oil-well-log records of the Gulf
Coast, bibliographical sketches, note-cards, fossil plates, technical reports
and scientific contributions to micropaleontology and stratigraphy, as well as
to the standard foraminiferal zonation of the Middle and Upper Eocene of the
Gulf Coast.
