The Council of Texas Archeologists is a
nonprofit voluntary organization dedicated to maintaining and promoting the
goals of professional archeology in Texas. These goals include preservation and
conservation of the cultural resources in Texas, promotion and coordination of
communication and cooperation within the archeological community, and the
promotion and distribution of information which enhances public awareness of
the limited and nonrenewable nature of cultural resources.
Collection consists largely of
published reports dating from the mid 1960s to present time dealing with
archeological cultural resource issues in the state of Texas. Many are
site-specific assessment studies and reports. Reports from both public and
private research organizations are included, such as the Center for
Archaeological Research at the University of Texas at San Antonio, the Texas
State Department of Highways and Public Transportation, and the Texas
Archeological Survey at the University of Texas at Austin.
