Biographical Note
Born to Daniel and Jane Ross Wade, Dr. Walter Wade (1810-1862) was a practicing
physician as well as the owner of Oak Hill Plantation and Rosswood Plantation in
Jefferson County, Mississippi. Family members include his wife Martha Wade, uncle
James T. Wade, brother Wilson Wade, nephews D. B. and Walter Wade, niece M. S.
Young, and nephews Samuel C. and Charles Young.
Scope and Contents
The Dr. Walter Wade Papers, 1819, 1832-1860 consists primarily of correspondence to
Dr. Wade from family and business correspondents.
