		carriers’ addresses from New York State, dating from 1856 to 1863.
		Traditionally published in newspapers on New Years Day, carriers’ addresses are
		long, often anonymous poems that review the events of the past year. Newspapers
		included in the collection are: the <emph render="italic">Atlas and
		Argus</emph> (Albany), <emph render="italic">Evening Mirror</emph> (New York),
		<emph render="italic">Hudson Daily and Weekly Star</emph>,
		<emph render="italic">New York Daily Times</emph>, <emph render="italic">New
		York Herald</emph>, <emph render="italic">New York Times</emph>,
		<emph render="italic">New York Tribune</emph>, and <emph render="italic">Troy
		Daily Whig</emph>.</p>
