A Guide to the Mississippi Photograph Album, ca. 1898-1899
Scope and ContentsScrapbook photograph album containing albumen and gelatin prints and cyanotypes documents parts of Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama around the turn of the century. The album emphasizes African- Americans at work and in school. Included are photographs of whites and blacks together, nature scenes, historic buildings and homes, street scenes and farms. Some identified places are Jackson, Vicksburg, Tougaloo, Robinson's Springs and Robinsons Plantation, Mississippi; Taladoga, Alabama; and East Tennessee's Cumberland Plateau.
