Creator SketchCharles H. Noyes (1895-1917) grew up on the Noyes Ranch near Menard, Texas, and later moved to Ballinger, Texas. He planned a career as a rancher but died due to a fall from his horse in 1917. A statue of him stands on the courthouse lawn in Ballinger.
