Biographical NoteHarold W. Billings joined the University of Texas Libraries in 1954 as a library assistant and retired in 2003 after serving as the director of the Libraries for 25 years. The American Library Association honored him in 2002 for his “long commitment to innovation in automation, resource sharing, and creative management” with the Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award.
