		transcription of photostats of the archives located in the Library of Congress
		and to his study, <emph render="italic">The History of the German Settlements
		in Texas, 1831-1861</emph> (1930). The papers also contain the typescript of
		his essay, <emph render="doublequote">The Financial History of the Confederate
		States</emph> (1927), miscellaneous excerpts, notes, and a clipping.</abstract>

	 <head>Biographical Note</head><p>Dr. Rudolph Leopold Biesele (1886-1960)
		earned his bachelor's, master's, and PhD degrees from the University of Texas,
		where he taught in the history department until retiring in 1957. His major
		area of research lie in German-Americans of Texas.</p>
